RUTH CROWELL

Ruth Rinefort Crowell, 77, of Newton, a native of Grinnell, died Saturday, July 4, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church in Newton, with the Rev. Scott Coulter officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

She was the daughter of Louis and Mabel Rinefort and was born July 27, 1914, in Grinnell. She was a graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Harold Crowell Sept. 30, 1948, in Malcom. Mrs. Crowell had lived most of her life in Grinnell and had lived for a few years on the East Coast prior to moving to Newton.

She had worked in the loan department of the Jasper County Savings Bank for 30 years, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Shrine Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband; one son, John of Iowa City; and a brother, Dr. H.E. Rinefort of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Virginia Crowell.

Memorials in Mrs. Crowell's name may be made to Hospice of Jasper County.
