DIES IN STUART

Marion Albertus Shahan was born in Washington County, Ohio, on October 11, 1857.

His father, Washington Shahan, served in the Civil War in the 36th regiment Iowa infantry, and died in a hospital in Helena, Arkansas, May 22, 1863.

Mr. Shahan was married in 1884 to Adeline Florence Perry. Three children were born to them. Two have preceded him in death: Miles DeWitt and Dr. L. Evan Shahan who died two and a half years ago.

Most of his life was spent in or near Grinnell, Iowa, of which city he was chief of police for thirty-five years. In 1920 he moved to the place near Stuart that was his home when death overtook him.

About one year ago he was stricken with heart trouble and succumbed to an attack at 1:30, Nov. 23, 1937.

He was always a devoted father and husband and a kind and honorable neighbor.

He leaves his wife, one son, one grandson, one brother and a host of friends, to mourn their loss.

The funeral service was held at the Bufkin Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Roy E. Gugeler. Burial was at Grinnell, Iowa.

Mrs. Beatrice Shahan and son of Chicago, Illinois, W.H. Shahan and family, of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. J.W. Perry and son, Kenneth of Fontanelle, attended the funeral.
