DEATH CALLS MRS.
ALEXANDER MORRIS

(By a Staff Correspondent)

Lynnville, Ia., August 13, Special:

Lulu Elizabeth Shahan was born in Lynnville, Iowa, Dec. 29, 1877, and died Aug. 8, 1929, aged 51 years, 7 months and 8 days.

She was married to Alexander Morris, July 5, 1897, in Newton. A son, Wayne LeRoy, was born to them Nov.29, 1902 when they resided in Garwin. During their residence in Van Cleve, she united with the Congregational Church, which was the church of her hcoice. Because of failing health and very much suffering she was not permitted to take active part in much church work, her home affairs coming first of all.

With all who knew her she was friendly and sociable, saying very little about her health. She was held in high esteem by all her neighbors and friends, and will be greatly missed.

Besides her husband and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Shahan, she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Alma Cunningham of Roland, Ia., Mrs. Daisy Sinnett of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Gertrude Justice of New Sharon, and one brother, Leonidas Shahan of Winfield, Ia. One brother, Willis Herman, died some years before.

"I fear thee not, O messenger of
doom,
My faith can see God's rainbow
o'er the tomb.
My tears are lenses rising to my eyes
Through which I glimpses catch of paradise."
--Campbell Coyle, D.D.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon on the lawn at the S.H. Shahan home with the Rev. L.W. Reynolds delivering the funeral address. Many beautiful flowers were banked around the casket. Appropriate songs were sung by Mrs. Frank Ratliff, Mr. and Mrs. A.T. Gifford, and Charles Potter. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
