MRS. ANGELINE SHAHAN

Angeline Farrell was born May 30, 1834, in Morgantown, W. Va.

In 1853 she was married to Washington Shahan, at the age of 19.

Two children, J.N. Shahan and Parthenia Gertrude Shahan, were born to them in West Virginia.

Mr. and Mrs. Shahan moved from West Virginia in 1858 to Ohio. Another son, Marion Albertus, was born there.

They lived there one year and then moved to Monroe county, Iowa, where another son, Worley Hamilton. was born.

Her husband was in the Civil War in the 36th regiment Iowa infantry, and died in a hospital in Helena, Arkansas, May 22, 1863.

A few years after her husband's death she moved with her family on a farm near Grinnell, afterwards moving to Grinnell where she has resided ever since.

Mrs. Shahan had been in very poor health for a number of years but had been quite well for the past year. She was taken sick with pneumonia Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 15, and died Friday morning at 7:55.

Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Mohler, the daughter, of Chicago; Dr. and Mrs. Evan Shahan, of Columbus Junction, Iowa; Carl Mohler of Albany, N.Y.; Mrs. Grayce Drummond of Chicago, all grandchildren; Mrs. Mary Bell of Eddyville, Iowa; Sylvanus Shahan and wife, of Lynnville,, Iowa, and Lon Shahan, of New Sharon.

The funeral was from the house yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. J.M. Brown officiating.
