RITES WEDNESDAY
FOR HELEN SPOONER

Mrs. Helen Spooner, 93, the wife of L. William Spooner of Rte. 4, Grinnell, died Sunday afternoon at Grinnell General Hospital.

The daughter of Clarence A. and Calista Goodrich Hamor, Mrs. Spooner was born near Malcom on May 28, 1877. After finishing her education in the rural schools near her home she and her family removed to California and she completed her high school education there. She then returned to Iowa and attended Normal Training School at Montezuma. She taught for two years at Malcom Township No. 9 and two years at Grant No. 5. On Nov. 25, 1903, Mrs. Spooner was married to Lynn William Spooner at Grinnell. To this marriage were born seven children--Mrs. Dessa Scherer of Des Moines; Alice M. Spooner of Denver, Colo., Mrs. H.J. (Ruby) Reilly of Denver, Colo.; Clare L. Spooner of Rte. 4, Grinnell; Ralph "Bill" Spooner of Rte. 4, Grinnell; Frank S. Spooner of Rte. 3, Grinnell; and Mrs. Cecil Carlson of Denver, Colo.

Mr. and Mrs. Spooner lived on the same farm since their marriage for over 66 years.

Survivors include her husband, Will; her seven children; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jess A. Hamor of Malcom. Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mrs. Myra Rivers and Mrs. Elizabeth Ford.

Funeral services for Mrs. Spooner will be held at 1:30 Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. James Davidson, minister of the Malcom United Methodist Church, officiating.

Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Pallbearers are Kenneth Lindbloom, Donovan Evans, C.M. Pilgrim, Harold Stanley, George A. Brown, and Guilford Moore.

Burial will be made in Hazelwood cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
