MRS. CECIL STAGE

Mabel Maud Spooner, daughter of the late George M. Spooner, and Mrs. Edith Spooner, of Grinnell, was born in this city Aug. 17th, 1885. In the spring of 1913 she was united in marriage to *Cecil K. Stage, of Sibley, Iowa, and they took up their residence at the home of the bride's mother.

November 10th she departed this life, leaving an infant daughter, her stricken husband, mother and brother, also a multitude of friends to mourn her early death.

Mabel Spooner was well known in our city, having graduated from the Grinnell high school in 1905 completing a two-years' course, with one of music in the Grinnell College.

For six years, she was an employe of the J.A. Stone and C.A. Blair dry goods stores and her employers bear testimony to her faithfulness to duty at all times. In early life she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and remained a faithful member until called by death. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, and the Nichelby Girls Club who acted as pallbearers at the funeral, which was conducted from the family residence, the Rev. J.M. Brown, her pastor, being assisted by a former pastor, Dr. W.P. Stoddard.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Spence, Mrs. Benson, Mr. Davies and Mr. Lowrey, feelingly rendered her favorite hymns, closing with, "Now the Day is Over."

The many floral tributes attested the esteem in which she was held by her friends.

Our sympathy is extended to the young husband and the sorrowing brother and mother.
