DONALD J. ARMSTRONG

Donald Joseph Armstrong was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Brooklyn to Howard William and May Newman Armstrong. He grew up on a farm northwest of Deep River and attended rural school through the 7th grade.

He was graduated from the Montezuma Community School in 1962,and attended the University of Iowa for two years. He then began farming, and on June 24, 1967, was united in marriage with Kristin Sue Johnson of Montezuma. To this union were born two children: Donald Joseph Armstrong II and Susan Elizabeth Armstrong.

Donald farmed until March 11, 1976, the date of his accident, and passed away at Mercy Medical Center Nov. 1, He was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church and the Montezuma Jaycees.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard William and May Newman Armstrong.

Donald is survived by his wife, Kristin Sue Armstrong and two children, Donald Joseph Armstrong II and Susan Elizabeth Armstrong; his brother, H. William Armstrong and his wife, Yvonne, and their children, David, Steven and Bryan; other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was held Nov. 5, 1987, at Montezuma Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Pickles and Rev. Dennis Dorsheimer officiating. Casket bearers were Vincent Johnson III, Eric Johnson, Lee Roy Cheney, David Cranston, David Armstrong, and Steven Armstrong.

Interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma with arrangements by Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma.
