BARBARA J. PARKER

Barbara J. Parker, 77, of Grinnell died Oct. 27, 2012, at Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell.

A private family graveside service and burial will be held Friday, Nov. 2, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Nov. 1, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Barbara Parker Memorial Fund.

Barbara was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Grinnell, the daughter of Raymond Harrison and Jenaveve Fern Reisinger Innis. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1953 graduate of Grinnell High School.

On April 23, 1955, she was united in marriage with Warren McDowell, in Lancaster, Mo., and the couple made their home in Grinnell. Warren died in 1966 and she later married Lonnie Parker, Jr. on Feb. 10, 1968, in Omaha, Neb. The couple continued living in Grinnell where she was busy raising her children and taking care of their home. She moved to Springfield, Mo., in 1985 and then returned to Grinnell in 1991.

She was a member of the Northside Friends Church in Grinnell.

Barbara enjoyed crocheting, baking, bingo, fishing, and collecting things. She loved horror movies, mystery and western novels, and enjoyed celebrating holidays with her family.

Survivors include three children, Laura Anderson of Monroe, Kim Hawkins of Grinnell and Mike Parker of Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry and Roger Innis of Grinnell; and two sisters, Betty Miller of Dallas, Texas and Judith Schlesselman of St. Cloud, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; one son, Jason Parker; one daughter, Shawna Parker; three brothers, Donald, Richard and David Innis; and one sister, Sharon Anderson.
