MEMORIAL RITES
CONDUCTED HERE

Zelma Zentmire, 78, a resident of Mayflower Home, died Thursday evening at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon at the first United Presbyterian church with the pastor, the Rev. Ronald Rain, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Eugene Holley.

This morning (Monday) memorial services were also held at Klesel Chapel, Mayflower Home, with the Rev. Ernest J. Starr and the Rev. Ralph Beebe officiating. Pianist was Miss Ruth Campbell.

Interment was at Sharon cemetery at Farmington, Iowa. James-Schalinske Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born Sept. 2nd, 1887, at West Point, Iowa, she was the daughter of James H. and Emma Zentmire.

With the family she lived in both Iowa and Missouri and moved to Ames in 1906 where she entered college. She held degrees from Iowa State University and from Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

She spent 45 years in phases of laboratory service as water analyst, aerologist, and bacteriologist in Michigan, Virginia, and Iowa. In 1963, she retired from active professional work and moved from Iowa City to Mayflower Home here.

Surviving are a brother, D.H. Zentmire of Marengo; and two nieces and two nephews.

Her parents, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
