MARGARET TAYLOR

Margaret Taylor, 95, of Grinnell died May 21, 2012, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church with Rev. Len Eberhart officiating. Organist will be William Tinker and vocalist Katie Taylor. Burial will be held at a later date at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

Margaret was born on a farm in Corinth Township near Humboldt on Feb. 25, 1917, the daughter of William and Mary Strachan. She attended rural schools and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1934. After studying at Iowa State Teachers College for two years, Margaret taught in a rural school for three years and in Lehigh, Iowa, for two years.

While in college at Cedar Falls, she met Noel Taylor, of Ames, to whom she was married on July 28, 1940. Thereafter they lived in Ames, Cedar Rapids, and finally Grinnell, where they have resided since 1956.

Margaret was a charter member of the United Methodist Women, a member of O.E.S., T.T.T., Historical and Literary Club, and Sunset Club. She was a member of Grinnell United Methodist Church for 56 years.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Noel of Grinnell; and five children, Robert Taylor of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gordon Taylor of Seattle, Wash., Warren Taylor of Windsor Heights, Beth Gordon, of La Canada, Calif., and Paul Taylor of San Ramon, Calif., as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
