MILVOY "SHORTY" CLARIS HAASE, 99

Memorial services for Milvoy "Shorty" Claris Haase, 99, of Avon Park, Fla., and formerly of Belle Plaine, were Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with the Rev. Jim Campbell officiating. Inurnment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Mr. Haase died Aug. 29, at The Oaks Nursing Home, Avon Park, Fla., due to respiratory disease.

Milvoy Claris Haase was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Elberon, the son of John W. and Frances Homolar Haase. He received his education at Elberon until the eighth grade. He married Gladys Marie Cleppe on June 21, 1938, at Northwood. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 2003. He had resided in Brooklyn where he farmed for 38 years, and retired to live in Belle Plaine in 1979. He moved to his present home in 2003.

He is survived by his children, Darla Yount and husband, Clifford, Avon Park, Fla.; Donn Haase and wife, Marie, Ely; and Dennis Haase of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mabel Zimmerschied, Sedalia, Mo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Roy, Lester, Marvin and Clarence; and one sister, Myrtle Stelling.

Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine was in charge of arrangements.
