JAMES J. DOYLE

James J. Doyle, 68, of Grinnell died of cancer Monday, June 3, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Malcom Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Memorial contribtions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

He was the son of Dorris and Helen Vorberg Doyle and was born April 2, 1928, in West Frankfort, Ill. He was raised in Grinnell and, later, in Barnsdall, Okla., where he graduated from high school in 1946.

He was married to Ruby J. Rutherford Sept. 28, 1946, in Sedan, Kan. The couple lived in Barnsdall. During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Doyle served with the U.S. Army. He moved to Grinnell and worked as a press operator for the Maytag Co. in Newton from 1949 to 1982.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Cheryl A. Doyle of Anchorage, Alaska, and Vickie Felton of Victor; one son, Donald of Grinnell; his mother; and one brother, William E. of Napa, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Jerry Dalpiaz and Joan Doyle.
