D.B. "Connie" Doyle, 92, of 902 Prince St., Grinnell, died Thursday, May 30, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside service was conducted Monday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata officiating.

He was the son of Samuel H. and Claude Jenkins Doyle and was born March 28, 1899, at Sebree, Ky. He received his education in Hendersonville, Ky. He then operated a restaurant in Paducah, Ky., and later worked in coal mines in West Frankfort, Ill.

He was married to Helen Louise Vorbert (Vorberg) July 26, 1929, at Albion, Ill. The couple lived in Detroit, Mich., where he worked for the Ford Motor Co. From 1931 to 1962 he worked as an engineer for the Great Lakes Pipeline Co. and lived in Osceola, Grinnell and Nebraska City, Neb. From 1962 to 1974 he lived in Lincoln, Neb., where he operated a magazine shop in Hotel Lincoln. He retired in 1974 and moved to Grinnell in 1980. He was a member of Hermon Masonic Lodge here.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons, James J. of Grinnell and William E. of Napa, Calif.; one daughter, Jerry Lee Dalpiaz of Peoria Heights, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Joan Doyle.
