HELEN DOYLE

Helen Louise Doyle, 91, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Friendship Manor.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata officiating.

She was born March 4, 1909, in Danville, Ill., to William and Altha Schaeffer Vorberg. The family moved to West Frankfort, Ill., where she was raised and educated. Following her education, she worked as an operator with the West Frankfort telephone company.

She was married to Dorris B. "Connie" Doyle July 26, 1929, in Albion, Ill. The couple lived in Detroit, Mich., Tulsa, Okla., Osceola, Grinnell and Nebraska City, Neb.

While living in Grinnell and Nebraska City, Mrs. Doyle also worked as a telephone operator. In 1962, her husband was transferred to Lincoln, Neb., and she worked as an operator at the Cornhusker Hotel there for 11 years. They retired to Grinnell in 1980.

Mrs. Doyle is survived by one son, William of Napa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James J.; two daughters, Jerry Lee Dalpiaz and Joan Doyle; four sisters, Della Luer, Maude Hall, Tina Booth and Hazel Richards; and three brothers, Louis, Fred and Howard Vorberg.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
