MRS. MARY C. GOODRICH

Mrs. Mary C. Goodrich, 84, of Marengo and formerly of Brooklyn, died Saturday morning, June 22, 1996, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goodrich were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Aaron Koskamp officiated. The organist was Mrs. Ellen Clayton and the soloist was Mrs. Joan Gerard. Casketbearers were Greg Rhoads, John Bartachek, Vern Bartachek, Steven Goodrich, Mark Goodrich, Kevin Goodrich and Scott Goodrich. Burial was in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Camillia Van Tomme Goodrich, daughter of Frank and Clemance Boergonjon Van Tomme, was born Jan. 8, 1912, at Kewanee, Ill. She moved with her family to Brooklyn in 1914 and received her education in a rural school. On Nov. 24, 1930, she married Virgil L. Goodrich in the home of his parents north of Malcom. They lived on farms around Brooklyn until 1965, when they moved to Marengo.

Surviving are her husband, Virgil L. Goodrich of Marengo; two daughters and their husbands, Alverda and Joseph Rhoads of Collins, Iowa, and Shirley and Gene Bartachek of Brooklyn; one son and his wife, Gerald and Mercedes Goodrich of Marengo; one brother, Rene Van Tomme of Montezuma; one sister, Laura Lacaeyse of Montezuma; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Goodrich was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Wayne Goodrich; one brother, Camiel Van Tomme; and one great-granddaughter, Jill Legvold.
