MRS. ERMA LACAEYSE

Mrs. Erma Lacaeyse was born Sept. 21, 1876, in Astere, Belgium, the daughter of Everest Herbrandt and Palagie Walgraeve Herbrandt. At the age of 17, she came to the United States with her parents and settled in Moline, Ill.

She was married to John Lacaeyse May 12, 1900, and the couple farmed in Illinois for seven years before moving to a farm south of Brooklyn where Mrs. Lacaeyse had lived for 49 years. Mr. Lacaeyse died Feb. 22, 1918.

She is survived by five children. They are Clara Peterson and Fred Lacaeyse, both of Montezuma, and Mrs. Margaret Akery, Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Noble and August Lacaeyse, all of Brooklyn. One son, Albert Lacaeyse died in 1946.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ed Andries of Moline, Ill. and Mrs. August Verdeck of Marshall, Minn. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lacaeyse died March 29, 1966, at St. Francis hospital in Grinnell where she had been admitted about a week earlier for treatment of a heart ailment. She was 89 years old.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning, March 31, at St. Patrick's church with the Rev. John T. Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Calvary cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: George Lavent, Raymond Van Ersvelde, Rene Van Tomme, Raymond Sheets, Everett Johnston and John Reitzler. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Arvidson.
