JACK L. SIMONIS

Jack L. Simonis, 69, of Grinnell died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating.

Born Dec. 28, 1936, in Baker, Ore., he was the son of Raymond and Ethel Sain Simonis. He was raised in Portland, Ore., and graduated from high school there.

He later moved to Blairstown, Iowa, and worked as a truck driver for Heartland and later Swank. He moved to Grinnell in 1990 and was employed with Lacaeyse Transport Inc. He retired in early 2006.

He is survived by a brother, Roger Simonis of Oregon, and several close friends, including the Gene and Mary Lacaeyse family and Jim and Donna Story. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
