FUNERAL SERVICES
HELD TODAY FOR
MRS. VEVA CLARK

Mrs. Veva Mae Clark, 49, wife of Harlan Clark of Grinnell, passed away early Friday morning at a local hospital following a serious illness of the last two years.

Funeral services for Mrs. Veva Clark were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. L.H. Streich, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill Kiesey, Claude Ahrens, Harold Haines, Clark Wilson, Fred Schrader and Melvin Adams.

Mrs. Waldo Johnson was organist.

Mrs. Clark was the daughter of Marsh and Docia Simms Bates, both January 7, 1913 at Monticello, Kentucky.

When she was about three years old, the family moved to the Grinnell area, where she attended school.

On April 21, 1934, at the Unitarian Church in Iowa City, she was united in marriage with Harlan William Clark. They have made their home here in Grinnell at 815 Prince Street.

Survivors include her husband at the home in Grinnell; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marsh Bates of Grinnell; her brother, Wendell Bates of Newton; and her sister, Zula Hockett of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Bates in 1951.
