ELSIE DUFFUS

Elsie Seigel Duffus was born in Waterloo on Nov. 26, 1906. She died March 5, 1998, in the Kalispell (Mont.) Regional Hospital.

Elsie grew up in Belle Plaine and taught rural school. She married Lester Duffus in 1931 and they lived in Brooklyn. Later, Elsie taught second grade in the Grinnell Public Schools while attending William Penn College, where she received her bachelor of arts degree.

Serving the Lord was vital to Elsie and her faith was a sustaining factor throughout her life.

Lester died in 1973 and Elsie moved to Kalispell, Mont., in 1988. She is survived by a son, Jerry, and his wife, Linda, of Columbia, Mo., a daughter, Mary Jane Heine, and her husband, John, of Kalispell; four grandchildren and spouses; nine great-grandchildren; and special friends, George and Bonnie Cowger of Grinnell; of of whom were very important to her.

A memorial service was held in Kalispell on March 6, with burial taking place in Brooklyn at a later date.
