SERVICES TODAY

John C. Buchmeier, 77, of 935 Spring St., Grinnell, died Monday evening (Oct. 12) at his home.

He was the son of August and Dora Bockenthien Buchmeier and was born Jan. 16, 1893, in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County. On March 1, 1942, he was married to Dorothy Wyss; the couple had two children--Harold J. Buchmeier of Des Moines and Mrs. Jerry (Phyllis) Reid of Grinnell--both of whom survive.

Mr. Buchmeier lived most of his life on the family farm near Kellogg before moving to Grinnell in 1964. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's Lutheran, and was a member of the church all his life.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his two children; one grandson, Michael Reid; one brother, Conrad H. Buchmeier of Kellogg; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eddie Walter Willie Buchmeier; a sister in infancy; and a half-sister, Mrs. Walter (Edith) Billiar.

Funeral services for Mr. Buchmeier were held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Kellogg, with the Rev. W.H. Lindquist officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Carl Buchmeier, organist, and Mrs. Kathryn Schaumberg, soloist.

Pallbearers were Carl Buchmeier, Ralph Buchmeier, Albert Deppe, Laird Deppe, Hollis P. Keenan, and Arthur Osborn. Flower bearers were Mrs. Albert Brooks and Mrs. Louis Hasselbrink.

Burial was in Newton Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
