AT MALCOM FOR
EARL ALERTSENEarl Alertsen, 58, of Rte. 2, Malcom, died Monday evening at a Grinnell hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon (Thursday) from the Malcom Methodist church with the pastor, the Rev. James T. Robinson, officiating. Vocal music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stahl, accompanied by Mrs. Nellie Farley at the organ.
In charge of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Truman Deedrick and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Davis. Pallbearers were Gerald Wang, Ward Puls, Earl Taylor, Fred Beck, Ralph Wentzel, and Virgil McCammant.
Interment was in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom. James-Schalinske Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The son of John L. and Clara Larsen Alertsen, he was born May 2nd, 1905, at Grinnell. He attended the rural schools of the Grinnell community and on June 24th, 1943, was united in marriage with Ruby Bauman at Lancaster, Mo. Since their marriage they had lived and farmed in the Malcom area.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; five children, Phyllis, Shirley, Rosemary, Kenneth and Wesley, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Clara Alertsen of Grinnell; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Wiley of Grinnell.
Preceding him in death were his father, on Apr. 22nd, 1963, and two brothers.
