DALE LARKINS DIES;
SERVICES TUESDAY

William Dale Larkins, 61, of 1005 High St., died suddenly at his home Saturday morning. He had not been in the best of health the past ten years due to a heart condition.

The son of Walter C. and Minnie I. Swank Larkins, Mr. Larkins was born in Sugar Creek Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, on Oct. 18, 1909.

On April 30, 1934, he married Marie Garrett at Oskaloosa, and they lived in What Cheer, Waterloo and Deep River before coming to Grinnell to make their home in 1952.

While in Grinnell, Mr. Larkins was employed by Grinnell College as an electrician in the building and grounds department.

During World War II, Mr. Larkins served with the Army in the Pacific and was involved in the landings on Okinawa and later battles. He served as a radio operator with the 749th Field Artillery Battalion.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; two daughters--Mrs. William (Carolyn) Joslin of Grinnell and Mrs. Eugene Tucker of Rte. 4, Grinnell; ten grandchildren, and a brother, Raymond E. Larkins of Harvey, Iowa.

Mr. Larkins was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons, William Dale and Robert Larkins.

Funeral services for Mr. Larkins will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Eugene Young, minister of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating.

Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Pallbearers will be William Joslin, Eugene Tucker, Larry Garrett, John Barker, Michael Garrett and Donald Souter.

American Legion services will be conducted by W.K. Richardson and Shirley Sisco.

Burial will be made in Springfield Cemetery south of What Cheer, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
