WILLIAM SAVILLE

William Saville was born Aug. 27, 1835, in Xenia, Greene county, Ohio. He was married to Louisa Cannedy, 1858, at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. There were born to this union eight children, six of whom are living: Jesse Saville, of Grinnell; Nathan Saville, of Tehamah, Nebr.; Mrs. Hattie Thorn, of Marshalltown; Mrs. Alice Mattingly, of Grinnell; Harvey Saville, of Grinnell; Dow Saville, of Montour, Iowa, the other two having died in infancy. There are also 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

William Saville enlisted, 1862, at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, January 4th, in the 25th Iowa, Company C, 15 Corps First Division.

He was mustered out August 4th, 1865, and departed this life March 3rd, 1915, at 6:30 a.m.

He had often given expression that he was ready to meet his Saviour, and also a desire that his children might live right lives and be prepared to meet him. He bore his intense suffering without a murmur and was so kind and patient through it all.

Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Sopher, at the home of his son, Harvey, in Grinnell. Interment was in Montour cemetery.
