DEATH SUMMONS
MRS. JANE SAVILLE

Syotha Jane Lewis was born near Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky, June 12, 1958. She was early left an orphan, her parents dying during the Civil War. She was cared for by her grandmother with whom she came to Iowa. Her home has been in and near Grinnell since that time.

In April 1873 she was united in marriage with Conrad Kennell. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. W.R. Mullins of Grinnell. Mr. Kennell died in 1886.

Later she married Jesse Saville. Three children were born to them, two sons and a daughter. The two sons, Alfred and Arthur died in childhood, the daughter, Mrs. Nora Cunningham of Newton survives. There are four grandchildren, Esther and Evelyn Mullins of Grinnell; Jeannette and Carol Cunningham of Newton. Mr. Saville died in December 1920.

Mrs. Saville was a member of the Methodist church in Grinnell, having united under the pastorate of Rev. J.M. Brown in December 1914. For the last year Mrs. Saville has been in failing health and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.R. Mullins, in the late evening of May 30, 1929. She had endeared herself to her children and friends by whom she is sincerely mourned.

Funeral services were held at the home of W.R. Mullins on Sunday afternoon, June 2, conducted by the Rev. George Blagg. The songs, "Plains of Peace" and "Mother O' Mine" were sung by Mr. Everett Curtis accompanied by Miss Margaret Jean Howell. Interment was made in Hazelwood.
