Paul E. Olin, 87, of Montezuma, died Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Senior Home in Montezuma.

A graveside funeral service was held on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River with the Rev. Dennis Dorsheimer officiating. Casket bearers were Bob Vitera, Jay Blanchard, Randy Stephenson, Mike Richman, John Blanchard and Jeff Hendrickson.

Paul E. Olin, the son of Carl and Emma (Schultz) Olin, was born on Sept. 8, 1909 in Deep River.

He was raised in Deep River and graduated from Deep River High School in 1929. On Dec. 29, 1931, he was married to Julia Lewis in Kahoka, Mo. He started working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad while in high school and retired from the railroad when he was 65. They lived in Deep River and a few years at What Cheer and Traer. After retiring they moved to Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Douglas; one brother, Oscar; and three sisters, Laura Hook, Clara Hesselhaus, and Ruth King.

Paul is survived by his wife, Julia of Montezuma; three daughters and their husbands, Joan and Jimmie Vitera of Montezuma, Jeanie and Dean Richman of Cedar Rapids, and Ruby and Carl Blanchard of Moline, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mina Olin of Toledo; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
