EMMA J. RICHMAN, 71

Emma Jean Richman, 71, of Montezuma, died early Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehab Center in Montezuma.

Her memorial services was Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with the Rev. Dr. George M. Salnave of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Merle Dean and Emma Jean Richman will be inurned together late this year in their monument, which will be located in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.

Emma Jean was born Sept. 14, 1934 at Iowa City, the daughter of Paul and Julia (Lewis) Olin. Jean graduated from Deep River High School and, on March 7, 1953, she was united in marriage with Merle Dean Richman at Oskaloosa. To this union two children were born. The couple lived most of their married life in Cedar Rapids, where Jeanie worked several years for the Cedar Rapids School food service. She was a member of the Methodist Church. After retiring, they moved to Montezuma in October 2000. Dean died March 3, 2003.

Jean is survived by a son, Michael and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Michelle Richman of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Jamie Richman, Jackie Van Gorp and Carter Richardson; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Devan and Kendra Poorman and Ashlyn, McKayland and Gracie Van Gorp; a sister, Ruby Blanchard, of Moline, Ill., and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Douglas Olin, and a sister, Joan Vitera.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
