MCNEAL FUNERAL
RITES SATURDAY

Funeral services for William McNeal were conducted by the Rev. Howard Hayes at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Music was provided by Miss Alice Underwood, organist.

Interment was at Masonic-IOOF Cemetery. Casket bearers were Harold Williams, Milo Phillips, Fred Cochran, Ben Purdum, Glen Fleming and Fred Zorn.

Mr. McNeal, 88, died Thursday, May 2, at Oskaloosa.

The son of Mary and Oscar McNeal, he was born near Montezuma on Jan. 29, 1880. He was the oldest of nine children. In his youth he attended school and worked on the family farm.

He was united in marriage with Edith Hoit and to this union three children were born. They farmed for several years, then moved to Grinnell where he was employed as an automobile salesman.

For the past several years he has made his home in Oskaloosa. Since his health failed he has been cared for in a nursing home.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his son, Therone; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathryn Thornton of Santa Ana, Calif.; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John of Grinnell; one sister, Mary Stanford of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
