JESSIE EMMERT

Jessie Emmert, 91, of Grinnell died Thursday, Feb. 7, at Friendship Manor.

A graveside service was held Saturday at Sheridan Cemetery northeast of Grinnell, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata officiating.

She was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Dean, Iowa, to Joseph and Sarah Moore Smith. She was raised in Dean and attended rural school.

On Jan. 24, 1942, she was married to Earl Emmert in Lancaster, Mo. They operated a grain and livestock farm in Sheridan Township. They retired in 1977 and moved to Grinnell.

Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Eisele of Grinnell, and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Daisy Nicholson; one brother, Pearly Smith; and a half-brother, Guy Lee.
