ELLEN HEALY RITES TODAY

Ellen B. Healy, 86, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 2, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center in Rock Island, Ill., where she had lived since July 1980.

The Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Karl W. Holtkamp of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Brooklyn and the Rev. John P. McGrath of St. John Vianney Catholic Church of Bettendorf officiating. Lector was James Cunningham, and organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Michael Healy, Tim Hughes, Robert Moore, Michael Reiser, Patrick Reiser and James Schulte. The Scripture Service was conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home.

Burial was at the Beaver Cemetery near Granger, with the Rev. Wayne Gubbels, pastor of the Assumption Catholic Church of Granger, officiating.

The daughter of Joseph and Mary Condon Moore, she was born Feb. 1, 1894, at Plankinton, S.D. She attended public schools in Aurora County, S.D.

On March 1, 1916, she was married to Martin A. Healy at Mt. Vernon, S.D. The couple farmed near Mitchell, S.D., for 52 years before coming to Grinnell in 1960.

Mrs. Healy was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's and an honorary member of Catholic Daughters, Court Mary Margaret, of Mitchell.

She is survived by her children, Mary L. Schulte and Margret F. Wise, both of Grinnell, Joseph P. Healy of Greenwood, Ind., and Barbara A. Reiser of Davenport; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Moore of Mitchell, S.D., and Frances Buckley of Volin, S.D.; and a brother, Joseph Moore of Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963, her parents, and five brothers and sisters.
