FLOSSIE HOIT DELK

Flossie Hoit Delk, daughter of J.E. and Leota Hoit, was born in Grinnell November 18, 1897. She departed this life July 19 at the age of 37 years. She was taken suddenly ill at her home in Searsboro, and was at once removed to the hospital at Montezuma and passed away shortly afterwards.

The deceased was graduated from the New Sharon high school in June, 1918. Following her graduation she took special work in Penn college, fitting herself for educational work. She taught school six years, after which she took a course in art from the Correspondence School of Art at Washington, D.C. This was her adopted line of work. She put out many beautiful paintings, for which she was awarded lovely and attractive prizes. This work she kept up until her death.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband and a four months old daughter; her father and mother; two brothers, Enos and Donald Hoit, both of New Sharon; one sister, Mrs. Paul Banta, of Centerville, and many near relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. E.M. Gregson from the home of her parents at New Sharon Sunday afternoon, July 21. Music was furnished by the choir of the Friends church and interment took place at the Friends cemetery adjoining New Sharon.

Hence another mother's life went out in the hour when most needed. However, God's will be done, and not ours.
