HOY R. MODLIN

Hoy R. Modlin, 65, of Kellogg died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

His body has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date with Cary Van Kampen, Grinnell Regional Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Kellogg. Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Hospice and left at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

He was born March 1, 1938, in El Paso, Ark., the son of Oliver W. and Mary S. Ramsey Modlin. He grew up in Otley. He was married on July 27, 1974? in Baxter to Betty J. Hinshaw. He was a fork-lift operator in a Maytag Company factory for 25 years, retiring in 1985.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Kellogg; two sons, Steve of Knoxville an Joshua of Des Moines; five daughters, Donna Modlin of Pleasantville, Lori Wearmouth of Newton, Denise Ridley of Eddyville, Molly Moore of Newton and Debbie Nash of New Sharon; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four brothers, L.D. Modlin and Elmer Modlin of Newton, Jim Modlin of Pella and Bob Modlin of Kellogg and two sisters, Faye Clark of Minnesota and Loy Stein of Knoxville, He was preceded in death by is parents and two brothers.
