VANETA BLAKELY

Vaneta Oestenstad Blakely, 74, of Spencer, whose husband, Robert, was a long-time resident of Grinnell, died Saturday, Aug. 3, at Spencer Muncipal Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Warner Chapel in Spencer with burial in Riverside Cemetery there.

She was the daughter of Engle and Rose Beetle Bollman and was born May 10, 1922, in McGregor. She lived in Corning and graduated from high school there.

On Feb. 9, 1941, she was married to Riedar Oestenstad in Spencer. She lived in Spencer throughout most of her life, and for a number of years she was a public relations representative for IMT Insurance in Des Moines, retiring in 1983.

She was married to Robert Blakely Feb. 26, 1983. They lived in Mission, Texas, and Silver Bay, Minn.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer and First United Methodist Church in Mission.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Fontana of Spirit Lake; two sons, Larry of Minnetonka, Minn., and Kent of Birmingham, Ala.; four stepsons, Bobby Blakely of Fresno, Calif., Bill Blakely of Martine, Ga., Maj. Ron Blakely of Vincencia, Italy, and Denny Blakely of Houston, Texas; one stepdaughter, Barbara Kasper of Bryan, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Ennis of Encinitas, Calif.; and one brother, Leo Bollman of San Francisco Calif.
