Miss Helen C. Blakely, 73, a former resident of Grinnell, died Tuesday evening at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

The daughter of A. Judson and Elizabeth Sulser Blakely, she was born on Dec. 23, 1897, in Grinnell. She graduated from Grinnell High School and also attended Grinnell College. Miss Blakely had made her home in Grinnell until a few years ago when she moved to Des Moines.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational and was past president of the Daughters of Union Veterans.

Miss Blakely is survived by her brother, A. Judson Blakely of Grinnell; a sister, Margaret Blakely of Des Moines; and two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary and Esther Blakely.

Funeral services for Miss Blakely will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Newell E. Davis, minister of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating.

Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner. Pallbearers will include Lyman Case, LaForest Sherman, Wayne Sulser, Donald Hasselbrink, Hugh McCleery and Bill Ritter.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
