FANNIE HILL

Mrs. Fannie L. Hill, 85, of Ypsilanti, Mich., and formerly of Grinnell and Kellogg, died Wednesday morning (Jan. 23) in Ypsilanti.

The daughter of Edwin and Lena Briceland Blythe, she was born Dec. 6, 1888, in Jasper County. She attended rural schools near her home and was graduated from Kellogg High School. On Jan. 31, 1912, she was married to Leslie L. Hill at Kellogg. The couple had two children, Mrs. Richard (Maxine) McNaughton of Ypsilanti and J. Max Hill of Grinnell.

Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hill made their home in Kellogg. In 1951, they moved to Grinnell to be near their son. Mr. Hill died in January of 1952,, and Mrs. Hill then moved to Ypsilanti to live with her daughter. Since 1952, she had spent summers in Grinnell and Kellogg.

She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church.

Survivors include her two children; a grandson, Earl McNaughton of Ypsilanti; a great-grandson, Dale R. McNaughton; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Parmley of Grinnell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Mrs. Josephine Phipps and one nephew, Cassius Parmley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hill were held at 2 p.m. today (Jan. 28) at the Kellogg Christian Church, with the Rev. James Christianson, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. James Christianson, and flowerbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Bobzin. Pallbearers were Gerald Cline, Hollis Parmley, Wendell Parmley, Gerald Phipps, Glen Temple, and Lawrence Vitera. Burial was in Our Silent city Cemetery at Kellogg, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Hill's name may be made to the Heart Fund or the Kellogg Christian Church.
