J. MAX HILL

Graveside services for J. Max Hill will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Mr. Hill died Jan. 20 at Sun Health Hospice in Peoria, Ariz., after an extended illness.

The son of Leslie L. and Fannie L. Blythe Hill, he was born July 4, 1917, in Kellogg, where he was raised and educated.

He was married to Ermal Davis Nov. 23, 1941, at Malcom. They lived in Grinnell where he worked as a truck driver for J.W. Norris & Sons.

He joined the U.S. Army Aug. 26, 1942, and served in the European Theater during World War II as a heavy-duty truck driver until his discharge in November, 1945.

He was co-owner of Hill & Norris Gasoline Transports for several years. He later worked as a truck driver and mechanic, retiring in 1979 as mechanic for the City of Grinnell.

Mr. and Mrs. Hill had spent their winters in Sun City, Ariz., since 1983.

He is survived by his wife; one sister,, Maxine McNaughton; and a nephew, Earl McNaughton.
