FUNERAL HERE FOR
ESTELLA BUFFINGTON

Funeral services for Estella Buffington, 70, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer's funeral home with the Rev. C.W. Woollard, pastor of Grace Methodist church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek.

Interment was in Calvary cemetery with Lynn Montgomery, B.F. Hicks, C.C. Ecklund, Leslie Ormiston, W.F. Ormiston and E.J. Stirniman serving as pallbearers.

The daughter of George and Ida Buffington, she was born October 12, 1892, at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and died January 25, 1963, at Wilmington, Del. She was the eldest of six children, living in Brooklyn from 1902 until 1918.

Following graduation from Brooklyn High school in 1911, Miss Buffington taught school in Poweshiek and Emmet counties and in the Jefferson High school. She earned a bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University and a master's degree from the University of Michigan. She worked as a bacteriologist at hospitals in Cleveland, Ind. and New York City prior to accepting a position with the board of health at Wilmington, Del. where she was employed for 18 years. Miss Buffington retired in 1961.

She was a member of the Episcopalian church in Wilmington where memorial services were conducted Sunday morning.

Survivors are an adopted son, David, who is now serving his third enlistment in the army; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Anna) German of Grinnell; Mrs. Willard (Ruth) Ayers of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. V.L. (Marian) Church of Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, who died in infancy.
