PAUL F. BRUNS

Paul F. Bruns, 71, of Deep River died following a long illness Dec. 15 at Mahaska Memorial Hospital, Oskaloosa.

He was born Dec. 6, 1922 at Kinross, the son of Frank and Ethel Rempp Bruns. He was graduated from Deep River High School in 1940, and on Oct. 20, 1940, was married to Louise Hopwood at Grinnell. To this union three sons and one daughter were born.

They lived most of their life in Deep River where Paul was engaged in the plumbing and heating business, and later in insurance sales.

He was a World War II Army veteran, having served overseas in Italy. He was a member of the Christian Church, Morrison-Schrader American Legion Post 296, and Lafayette Lodge 52 AF&AM of Montezuma. He had been a member of the Deep River Volunteer Fire Department. Paul was Deep River City Clerk for a number of years, and was involved in numerous community activities.

Bruns was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary; two brothers, Bill and John R. Bruns.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, and their family: two sons and their wives, Stanley and Pat Bruns of Orange, Calif. and Dennis and Sandy Bruns of Cedar Rapids; one daughter and her husband, Roxanne and Bill Castle of Kirksville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Icenbice of Deep River, other relatives and friends.

No services will be held. The body has been cremated and burial will be in Golden Rod cemetery at a later date. Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Deep River Volunteer Fire Department or Golden Rod cemetery.
