EULA SAUNDERS

Eula Jean Saunders, 60, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, May 30, at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Michael Hovda officiating. Burial was in Forest Cemetery there.

Memorials in her name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

She was born Sept. 17, 1932, near Riverside and was the daughter of Lester and Loretta Michel Ford. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1950.

She was married to Raymond Saunders Jan. 7, 1951, in Grinnell. They lived in Grinnell for 10 years, then in Newton for 12 years before moving to Oskaloosa in 1973. They made decorative wicker baskets and sold them at craft shows throughout Iowa.

Mrs. Saunders is survived by her husband; four daughters, Rosanna Mohler of Urbandale, Cynthia Saunders of San Jose, Calif., Loretta DeHoedt of Russell and Rhonda Cady of Oskaloosa; one son, Raymond of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren; one brother, Delmar Ford; and five sisters, Verna Fry, Mary Ott and Wilma Claussen, all of Cedar Rapids, Virginia McCabe of Overland Park, Kan., and Nora Difelice of Alexandria, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rita Peabody; and two brothers, Harold Ford and one in infancy.
