HELEN A. DEE

Helen A. Dee, 89, of Pocahontas died Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Hope United Methodist Church in Pocahontas, and graveside services were held at Sheridan United Methodist Church near Tama, with the Rev. Rick Dee officiating.

She was the daughter of David I. and Leo B. Spieth Beamer and was born May 17, 1909, in Baldwin City, Kan. She graduated from Wamego High School, Wamego, Kan., in 1927. She graduated from Baker University, Baldwin, Kan., in 1931.

She was married to Paul Dee Oct. 31, 1935, in Oswego, Kan. They lived in Sioux falls, S.D., and Jefferson before moving to Fort Dodge in 1943.

Mrs. Dee worked as administrative secretary for the family business, D&D Co., in Fort Dodge, later known as the Paul Dee Co. The couple returned to Sioux Falls briefly before moving to Marshalltown. Mrs. Dee had been a resident of Pocahontas since 1996.

She was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Rick of Pocahontas and Steve of Fort Collins, Colo.; one daughter, Linda Dee of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Egan and Esther Richert, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Beth Dimond of Matthews, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ruth Barnes; and two infant granddaughters.
