KEITH R. COOMES

Keith R. Coomes, 51, of 732 Penrose St., Grinnell, died Monday, Jan. 9, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Grinnell United Methodist church, with the Rev. Del Dawes officiating. Casket bearers will be Dan Agnew, Joel Kelling, Earl Kinnaird, Jay Lohman, Shawn McKay, Rich Shell and Jack Sinkler. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The family will be present at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Columbus, Ind., to Felix and Marjorie Cochran Coomes. He was raised in Columbus and later lived on a military base in France. The family returned to Columbus, and he graduated from high school there. He was also a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville.

He was married to Nancie King Nov. 11, 1967, in Kirksville. The couple lived in Moberly, Mo., where he was employed by ABCO Financial Services Co. The family moved to Grinnell in 1978, and he was associated with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. as a business analyst.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, David of Cedar Rapids and Michael of Grinnell; one daughter, Brandy Coomes of Grinnell; his father; and one brother, Bill McCalup of Versailles, Ind. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
