RONALD DUANE ARMENT

Duane Arment, 76, of Grinnell, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Bonnie Koeppen, pastor of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was at the Sheridan Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice.

Duane was born on Dec. 21, 1935, in Montour, to Basil and Esther Gillespie Arment. He was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1955.

On June 15, 1955, he married Earlene Faye Dee at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived in Grinnell and he worked for Arment Plumbing and Heating from 1955 to 1963. He also worked for Thermogas, Farmhand, Skelgas and the City of Grinnell. Following his retirement in 1980 the couple resided on the family farm near Tama and later returned to Grinnell.

Duane was a member of the Izaak Walton League; enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking; and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Arment of Grinnell; his children, Tom Arment of Grinnell, Marvin Arment of Ewart, Debra Graham of Grinnell, Roger Arment and Brian Arment, both of Tama; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Bailey of Grinnell; and one brother, Gerald Arment of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucy Belle Arment.
