RITES WEDNEDAY FOR
MRS. McANINCH, 93

Mrs. Sarah McAninch, who was born in a log cabin northeast of Brooklyn, died Monday in the Plaine Crest nursing home at Belle Plaine at the age of 93.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Grace Methodist church with the Rev. C.W. Woollard officiating. Leo Shuler was organist.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery at Brooklyn. Casket bearers were Keith Haughnbury, Lawrence Smith, Melvin Kann, Donald Haughnbury, Larry Smith and Peter Dows.

Sarah D. Billick McAninch, daughter of George and Henrietta Billick, was born July 14, 1872, near Brooklyn and died January 8, 1966.

She received her education in rural schools and the Brooklyn public school. In 1884 the family moved to Brooklyn. On August 17, 1889 she was married to A.M. McAninch of Brooklyn and five children were born to the couple. The family lived in Brooklyn, Carnforth and Victor. Mrs. McAninch had always lived in Poweshiek county with the exception of the last six years when she lived in nursing homes.

She had been a member of the Brooklyn Methodist church for many years and also of the Women's Relief Corps.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Viola) Smith and Mrs. Ray (Nellie) Kann, both of Belle Plaine; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, two daughters, one son, three sisters and two brothers.
