Kaethe Marie Meyer, 66 of rural Montezuma, Iowa, died at her home on Sunday, February 1, 1998 due to complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 1998 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. The Rev. Emmanuel Tabelisma of Montezuma United Methodist Church will officiate.
A reading written by Rita Marie Jack will be read by Mrs. Mary Hedrick.
Musical selections are "Edelweiss" and "On Eagles Wings," and Miss Alice Underwood will be the organist.
Visitation with family and coffee time will be from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. February 4 at the United Methodist Church of Montezuma.
She was born September 27, 1931 at Bremen, Germany the daughter of Hermann and Kaethe (Brinkman) Jahn. She graduated school in Bremen, Germany. On May 28, 1948 she was united in marriage with Herbert Frederick Meyer at Bremen. To this union three children were born. They moved to the United States and arrived in Guernsey, Iowa on July 3, 1951 and moved to their farm near Montezuma in March 1958. Kaethe was a member of the LGT Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Rita Jahn.
Kaethe is survived by her husband, Herbert; two daughters and their husbands, Brigitte and Rae Van Roekel and Vera and Dennis Latcham and one son and his wife, Uwe and Diane Meyer all of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Rita Marie and husband, Scott Jack of Grinnell, Danny VanRoekel of Montezuma, Jared Latcham and wife, Niki; Jason Meyer and wife, Jodi of Montezuma and Eric, Brett and Jillenna Meyer all of Montezuma; two great grandchildren, Shauna and Lex Jack; four sisters and their husbands, Lieselotte and Dietmar Horn of Bremen, Germany, Irmgard and Dietor Tarnorusky of Bremen, Germany and Giesela and Rolf Luttmann of Bremen, Germany; one brother and his wife, Hermann and Ute Jahn of Bremen, Germany, and other relatives and many friends.
Memorials may be made to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department or Blakely-Stevens American Legion Post. No. 169.
