JOHN E. REX

John E. Rex, 84, of Muscatine died Monday, Jan. 19, at Manorcare Health Services in Davenport.

There were no funeral services. A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Muscatine Elks Lodge. He will be buried in *Melbourne, Iowa. (Transcriber Note: Buried in Elmwood Cemetery in *Minburn, Iowa)

He was the son of E.M. and Alice Estle Rex, and was born Dec. 7, 1913. He was married to Julia Harper Jan. 4, 1945, in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Rex was a 1937 graduate of Grinnell College and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II as a warranty officer. He returned to Iowa and began farming along the Cedar River. He also worked with the County Extension Office.

He was a former member of the Board of Supervisors and served as county auditor. He was also involved with the Republican Party, the Muscatine Rotary and Elks clubs and the 33 Club.

Surviving is one daughter, Susan Moore of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his wife and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society or Muscatine Elks Lodge No. 304.
