MARY REX

Mary Rex, 86, of 616 Broad St., Grinnell, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

No public services are planned. Private family burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Minburn, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was born May 26, 1911, at Minburn to E.M. and Alice Estle Rex. The family moved to Grinnell, and she graduated from Grinnell High School in 1929. She also was a 1933 graduate of Grinnell College.

During World War II, she served with the Navy WAVES. After the war she worked as a physical therapist in Rochester, N.Y. Following her retirement she lived in Muscatine, moving to the Mayflower here in 1980.

Surviving is one brother, John Rex of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Helen Shroyer and Elisabeth Rex.
