SUCCUMBS FRIDAY,
SSERVICES TODAYPeter T. Christensen, 66, former Grinnell businessman, died late Friday afternoon at a local hospital after an illness of the last four years.
Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. G.S. Bruland of the Grinnell Methodist church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner and flower bearers were Mrs. William Bitcon and Mrs. Edgar Stimson.
Serving as pallbearers were Don Bailey, William Bitcon, A.B. Hamilton, Charles Hink, Sam Rasmussen and Emmett Small. Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery.
The son of Jens and Sena Rasmussen Christensen, he was born near Randall on May 12, 1893, and attended the Randall public schools. He later enrolled in a dairy course at Iowa State College.
On Sept.2, 1922, he was united in marriage with Clarice Swedlund at Stratford. To this union were born two children: Mrs. Keith (Phyllis) Blake of Shirley, Ind., and Robert of Jackson, Minn.
The family moved to Grinnell 20 years ago from Osceola and Mr. Christensen owned and operated the Grinnell Creamery until a few years ago.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife and two children; seven grandchildren, and five brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Anna Gresdal of Des Moines, Mrs. Lena Neel of Clear Lake, Clarence of Osceola, Elmer and Clifford of Randall, Donald of Ames, and Arthur of Paramount, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
