RITES TODAY

Sarah J. Reavis, 66, of 713 Center St., Grinnell, died Monday morning at her home.

The death was listed as a suicide.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reavis will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, officiating. Organist will be Naomi Reaves. Pallbearers will be Robert Bryan, Harold Fetzer, Bill Gilbreaith, Russell Koger, Lester Tharp and Webb Wallace.

Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of William and Bettie Bachman May, she was born June 26, 1910, in Novinger, Mo. She attended rural school near her home.

In 1930, she was married to LeRoy Davis at Peoria. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Bethlehem, Ia. Mr. Davis died in 1935.

She then moved to Grinnell. On Jan. 31, 1959, she was married to Ted Reavis here.

Mrs. Reavis was a former member of the Church of Christ in Sidney, Ia.

Survivors include her husband, Ted; a son, Andrew Davis of Plano, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Alpha Reavis of Grinnell and Mrs. Ivan (Nellie) Walker of Monrovia, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, LeRoy; a son, James Owen Davis who died in 1949; and two brothers, H.O. May and Arlie May.
