Alpha L. Reavis, 80, of 620 Center St., Grinnell, died Monday, Dec. 30, at Marshalltown Area Community Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Reaves of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Music was by Naomi Reaves, organist, and Shirley Sears, vocalist. Pallbearers were William Belcher, Eldon Gerard, Randy Johnston, Robert Kline, Gordon Roorda and Louis Smith.
Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Grinnell Assembly of God Church.
The daughter of Samuel and Bettie Bachman May, she was born on Feb. 10, 1905, in Stahl, Mo. She was educated in Missouri and was married to Duane Sumpter in 1923. The couple moved to Bethleham, Iowa, in 1926.
Following the death of her husband, she was married to Roy Morris in 1927. The couple lived at Bethleham and Corydon.
She moved to Grinnell in 1943 and was employed at the Grinnell Shoe Company and later at Midwest Metal Stamping Co. at Kellogg.
On April 27, 1950, she was married to Clarence "Spec" Reavis in Grinnell. They continued to live in Grinnell where Mrs. Reavis was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her son, Clyde O. Sumpter of Grinnell; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie Walker of Moravia, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Dean W. Morris; a grandson; two brothers, Hallie "Jack" May and Arlie May; and one sister, Sarah Reavis.
