RITES TODAY

Helen Anderson, 92, of 408 Fifth Ave., Grinnell, died of a heart ailment Monday evening, June 27, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers will be Eldon Anderson, Gerald Arment, Gene Broders, Giles Jay, Maurice Neal and A.J. Schaefer. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Henry and Frances Balmost Schaefer, she was born Dec. 16, 1890, at Muscatine. She graduated from high school in Moline, Ill., in 1901 and later taught rural school near Wilton Junction.

On June 24, 1913, she was married to Glenn Anderson at Moline. The couple moved to Grinnell, where Mr. Anderson worked as a postal clerk for 48 years.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, and she was active in church activities. She was also a member of the Omega Sigma Club.

Survivors include a son, Don H. Anderson of Newton; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966; a son, Paul Anderson, in 1980; and four brothers, Jacob, Edward, Harry and Albert Schaefer.
