EMILY B. DENICK

Mrs. Emily Brewster Denick passed away at a Grinnell hospital Friday after a two weeks illness.

Mrs. Denick was born on September 1, 1875, in Blairstown, Ia., and was the daughter of John T. and Mary Ann Robrecht Brewster. She received her education in Clinton schools and took special training for primary education at Drake University. After finishing her education she taught in the schools at Low Moore, Princeton and Miles, Iowa.

On November 10, 1912, she was married to Charles J. Denick of Miles. They made their home in Miles until his death in 1938.

Mrs. Denick later moved to Clinton to make her home with her sister, Miss Lorraine Brewster. In May 1959 the two of them moved to the Mayflower Home in Grinnell and were among the early residents of Pearson Hall.

Mrs. Denick was a member of the Methodist Church of Miles and a member of the Grinnell Poweshiek Chapter of the DAR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and her husband and is survived by one sister, Miss Lorraine Brewster of the Mayflower Home, Grinnell, Iowa.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. today, (Monday) at the Bragonier Faye Chapel, Clinton, with the Rev. Ralph Beebe, associate pastor of the Grinnell Congregational church, officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Clinton.
